Behind the editor.

B.A. in Literature and History

Something something about me

Graduated at University of Santa Cruz, California with a BA in Pre- and Early Modern Literature with a History minor attached.

Passionate about all sorts of subjects with lots of attention to detail.

Started as a SEO blog writer in the Midwest. Began to learn about the ins and outs of digital marketing, aiming to improve the click-thru rate and boost the bookings and retention of all who visited the travel website. I began to learn the backbone of SEO optimization.

I learned about hyperlinking and website optimization working in Thomson Reuters. Becoming detail-oriented was simply another tool that I added into my toolbox, and as digital marketing became increasingly important during COVID, my skills only continued to grow.

I was brought onto the growing editor team at the Black News Channel, a news start up. Immediately, I implemented a new queue system from scratch, meant to facilitate the work flow of articles and social media copy to an organized system. I also began work on an in-house Style Guide, a living document which was used to standardize all articles and create a consistent voice across multiple writers. I also lead and trained a team of green copyeditors, training them in how to use AP style and fact-checking, along with working with writers to find their true voices.

At NewsNation, my professional experience translated into working for a national news room. I helped with launching the primetime show “CUOMO,” enabling the night team to smoothly onboard the show for its late night review. I also helped to create a Style Guide and created numerous “cheat sheets” to help onboard green writers with NewsNation’s style. I headed numerous meetings designed to facilitate communication and idea coordination between copyeditors and managers. and smooth over communication and consistency across video and social media teams, as well as working with our reporters on breaking news and events.
